Misdiagnosis: The Hidden Epidemic
Panel Discussion + Networking Event

When: May 2, 2014 | 6pm - 8pm
Where: Mayflower Park Hotel at 405 Olive Way, Seattle, WA 98101

"Misdiagnosis is more common than drug errors or wrong-site surgery" according to the
Washington Post, yet it is only now being brought to the forefront of medical error discussions.
From newborns to seniors, individuals can face wrong, delayed or missed diagnoses at any time; while at the physician's office or during a hospital stay, at the ER or during diagnostic testing, and pretty much everywhere within the healthcare system. Being able to detect a wrong, delayed or missed diagnosis can save time, money, and most importantly, lives.
How does one get the right diagnosis at the right time? What can patients, health advocates and clinicians do to ensure that proper medical diagnosis is achieved so patients can get the appropriate treatment?

Why Attend?
Learn from both a patient and a provider perspective how to avoid a misdiagnosis, get actionable tips for yourself, your loved ones or your patients, and be entertained by an interactive audience component. Then stay for the WASHAA networking event at the laid-back Fireside room to mingle with others interested in advocacy and patient safety, enjoying appetizers and wine!

  1. Learn how to spot, prevent or overcome an error in diagnosis
  2. Get valuable tools you can use as a patient, provider or advocate
  3. Participate in an interactive conversation and share your story
  4. Learn about the latest on misdiagnosis initiatives across the country
  5. Connect with other advocates, patients and healthcare professionals at the networking reception
